Fintech Moldova strengthened its international engagement as a Community Partner of UNCHAIN Festival 2026, one of Central and Eastern Europe’s leading fintech and digital finance events. As part of the festival, Fintech Moldova coordinated the Moldova Country Forum, showcasing the country’s rapid progress in financial innovation and digital transformation to an international audience.
The panel brought together representatives from Moldova’s public and private sectors to discuss the evolution of the country’s financial ecosystem and the opportunities that lie ahead as Moldova continues its alignment with the European financial market.
The discussion highlighted the significant progress Moldova has made in recent years in modernizing financial services. From reducing friction in everyday banking to expanding digital public infrastructure, the country is building the foundations of a more accessible, efficient, and innovative financial ecosystem.
A key focus was the growing role of digital identity through the EVO platform, which is simplifying access to digital services for both citizens and businesses while supporting secure customer onboarding and digital interactions across the financial sector. Together with the continued development of Open Banking, these initiatives are creating new opportunities for fintech companies to develop innovative products and improve customer experiences.
Participants also explored the expansion of Moldova’s instant payment ecosystem through solutions such as MIA and MPay, which are helping make digital payments faster, more convenient, and more accessible. These initiatives represent important building blocks in the country’s broader strategy to increase digital payment adoption and reduce reliance on cash.
Beyond technology, the conversation addressed the regulatory reforms necessary to support long-term market development. Topics included the modernization of capital markets, pension system development, the emerging regulatory framework for crypto-assets, and the promotion of alternative financing mechanisms that can improve access to capital for businesses and entrepreneurs. Aligning these frameworks with European Union standards remains a strategic priority as Moldova advances on its path toward deeper European integration.
The panel also emphasized that successful financial innovation depends on close collaboration between regulators, financial institutions, technology companies, and public authorities. Moldova’s progress in recent years demonstrates the value of coordinated action in creating an ecosystem where innovation can thrive while maintaining financial stability, consumer protection, and trust.
Participation in UNCHAIN Festival reflects Fintech Moldova’s continued commitment to promoting the country’s fintech ecosystem on the international stage and strengthening connections with regional partners. As Moldova’s financial sector continues to evolve, international platforms such as UNCHAIN provide valuable opportunities to exchange best practices, attract new partnerships, and demonstrate how digital transformation can deliver tangible benefits for businesses and citizens alike.
With continued investment in digital infrastructure, progressive regulation, and public-private collaboration, Moldova is steadily positioning itself as an emerging fintech ecosystem in Central and Eastern Europe—one that is increasingly contributing to the broader conversation on the future of financial services across the region.
