Fintech Moldova continued its commitment to strengthening regional cooperation by joining Fintech Week Ukraine as a Community Partner, while Founder and Coordinator Stefan Nistor participated in the international roundtable “Fintech Without Borders: Strengthening European Innovation.”
The discussion brought together leaders of fintech associations, industry experts, and representatives of the business community from across Europe to explore one of the sector’s most pressing challenges: how to create a truly integrated and borderless European fintech ecosystem.
As financial services become increasingly digital, fintech companies are looking beyond their domestic markets from the very beginning. However, despite significant progress in European integration, expanding across borders remains a complex process. Participants agreed that regulatory fragmentation, differing licensing requirements, and inconsistent compliance frameworks continue to slow innovation and make international scaling more difficult, particularly for startups and growing fintech companies.
During the roundtable, Stefan Nistor joined fellow ecosystem leaders from across Europe to discuss practical ways of reducing these barriers and strengthening collaboration between national fintech communities. The conversation emphasized that creating a more connected European market requires not only regulatory alignment but also closer cooperation between fintech companies, financial institutions, regulators, and industry associations.
A recurring theme throughout the discussion was the importance of partnerships as the foundation of innovation. Across Europe, collaboration between banks and fintech companies is accelerating the adoption of new technologies, improving customer experiences, and driving greater financial inclusion. Participants highlighted that regulators also play a critical role by creating frameworks that encourage innovation while maintaining trust, security, and consumer protection.
The discussion also reinforced the idea that Europe’s greatest competitive advantage lies in its ability to collaborate across borders. While other global markets often compete through scale, Europe has the opportunity to differentiate itself by building interoperable financial systems, harmonized regulatory approaches, and interconnected innovation ecosystems that allow companies to grow internationally with greater confidence.
For Moldova, these conversations are particularly relevant. As the country continues aligning its financial sector with European standards and deepening its integration into the European financial ecosystem, cross-border cooperation becomes increasingly important for local fintech companies seeking access to new markets, investment, and strategic partnerships.
Participation in Fintech Week Ukraine reflects Fintech Moldova’s broader mission of ensuring that Moldova is represented in international discussions shaping the future of financial services. By contributing to conversations on policy, innovation, and ecosystem development, Fintech Moldova continues to strengthen relationships with partners across Europe while creating new opportunities for Moldovan fintech companies to become part of a more connected and competitive European market.
As Europe’s fintech ecosystem continues to evolve, initiatives such as “Fintech Without Borders” demonstrate that the future of financial innovation will be built not by individual markets acting alone, but through cooperation, shared standards, and a common vision for a truly integrated European fintech landscape.
